CHARITY: Bamboo shelter boys Take to the field - Nov 25, 2017

On a ferociously hot Saturday morning, Saigon Saints and Green Bamboo took to the Chu Van An playing fields in the hope of putting on a footballing show and also showing that playing football in Ho Chi Minh isn't all bikini's and speedboats.

On a ferociously hot Saturday morning, Saigon Saints and Green Bamboo took to the Chu Van An playing fields in the hope of putting on a footballing show. What proceeded was neither a master class in football nor even a compliance with the rules of football but a gasping, rollicking good time, that involved: imaginary yellow cards, occasional, purposeful handballs, young kids (and the occasional Saint) discovering for the first time in their lives which foot they are and a hatful of goals.

In a new initiative set up by the club, the Saigon Saints hope to make Saturday football with Green Bamboo a regular occurrence. It was clear from the smiling, sweaty happy faces (even with their limited English skills) that the Saints enjoyed themselves. So too did the children from Green Bamboo.

Special mention to man of the match Tinh, who donned the French national shirt, played like Messi, claimed to be Neymar and capped off his performance with a hattrick.
